You already got success to get a fantastic logo. It is just perfect that represent your entire core messages and values. You chose the amazing colour scheme and nailed down icons and fonts that shout your brand to the world. You’re done, right?

Well, what if I say not exactly!

Soon you will realize that the single main emblem doesn’t work well on every platform. Because the goal of your emblem is to make you stand out in the crowd and attract the right audience. However, having multiple variants of your emblem can help you to level up your position, and make a reliable and consistent image across all platforms and media.

What’s a logo variation?

An emblem variation is doing a modification and rearranging the elements of a primary design. It can be done by making changes in its colour, size and format. Every brand needs a bunch of remarkable logo plans to use on different platforms. It would create a more recognized, adaptable, and fits best with your branding attempts.

There are 3 basic types of variations that you must have.

1. Primary Logo

The first is when you buy logo as the main and primary emblem of your brand. It contains the all basic information and element that your business requires to represent. It creates a whole image of your business and tells the target audience, who you are? And how you are different from others?

Moreover, as it is your main symbol, it would be used on your website, large printed collateral, marketing materials, and with the tagline, location info, etc.

2. Secondary Logo

It actually a subversion of a primary emblem or you can say a rearrangement of the elements in another orientation. Like of your primary symbol is in a horizontal way, so it would be more like a stacked version. With the secondary option, you can make it possible to use in places where the primary could not fit.

It would be more like a tighter and more compact one. Most often, a primary is in horizontal nature, then a secondary is a design in a vertical way. So, you can use it in a more shrink version.

3. Submark(s)

It is a custom logo that is a more simplified variation of your primary emblem. Basically, it keeps the main and essential element that defines you in the fastest way. It might include just the name of your business, the main icon of your design, or the initials from the primary design.

This version is more useful to use in small space places. Like your social media profiles, website or email footer, Pinterest and blog graphics, etc.

Why do you need to have different versions of your Emblem?

It is a big question that you already have an amazing design, then why you are required to make more variations. Well, having various versions gives you an upper edge to make your image more consistent among all different platforms.

It will give branding flexibility, you won’t have to stretch or compress your emblem to fit on that. Moreover, as your business grows, your icon has to be present in more places. Every place will have its own requirements for how they will accept your emblem. Like, in print, sometimes you have to go with a black and white version, and some require different dimensions and file sizes.

In addition, with the advancing edge of technology, you have to show your presence on social media site as well, and the website is a great source to generate more lead and create brand awareness.

However, for the profiles of Instagram and YouTube, you cannot use that big logo. Because it would be a messed to use too detail an icon for such a small space. Therefore, a smaller and simpler version would be more effective and works best.

Conclusion

A business needs to have a holistic brand identity and a strong image. It makes them distinctive in the crowd and creates a more recognized identity. However, the various varieties of a logo give you more diversity, consistency, and reliability. Therefore, before buying a logo for business, analyze your business and find out what type of variation is required, might be not now, but in future. It makes things more easy and professional in the future.
